Brighton & Hove is one of the UK’s leading tourist destinations, with over 11 million visitors coming to the city each year, generating over £800 million in revenue. Unique in its combination of seaside charms, coupled with a sophisticated restaurant and bar culture, independent shopping with big high street names, a vibrant arts and culture scene, beautiful architecture of historic importance, museums and galleries and some of the best countryside the UK has to offer less than 15 minutes from the centre. The city has something for everyone and has a bohemian sensibility unknown anywhere else in the UK.
On behalf of VisitBrighton, the official tourism arm for the city, we were tasked with running a press office and organising a whole range of monthly media stories and press trips and media that promoted the wealth of what’s on offer for visitors to the city.
One such trip was #MoreToBrighton. Brighton Pier is one of the most Instagrammed locations in the UK, according to the photo-sharing site. To highlight there was much more to the city than the Pier, we organised a digital influencer press trip and invited influential travel Instagrammers and bloggers to the city for the weekend. The weekend trip highlighted the best of Brighton, incorporating a mix of museums, cafes and restaurants, quirky shops and tourist sights.
Influencers attending the trip included Peppy Here (81K followers), London Coffee Shops (120K followers), Urban Pixxels (26K followers) and A Girl Who Travels (46K followers). The trip resulted in a series of really positive posts from the influencers, which in turn received lots of engagement and positive messaging for the city.
